Managing Tricky People and How to Bring the Best Out of Employees
If you’ve spent any time leading others, you will know that managing even the best of people, at times, can be challenging, let alone those we find tricky to work with. And in times when it can be difficult to recruit skilled people, we need to work to bring out the best in the people we have. Helping those we lead to increase their performance; represent our business professionally; work effectively with their colleagues; and be part of a positive work culture are all part of effective leadership.
Ray Hodge shares his expertise in leadership, strategy formulation + implementation and overall systems and business improvement as a consultant, speaker and writer. He enjoys serving a wide range of clients, including individual entrepreneurs, government departments and multi-national organisations.
Ray has a passion for words and writing and has authored three books, the most recent of which is How Efficiency Changes the Game: Developing Lean Operations for Competitive Advantage.
Ray’s articles frequently appear in the nationwide magazines of peak professional organisations. He also publishes a weekly free newsletter and video called Mindful Motivation that provides tips and tactics for navigating the human side of work.

Always keen to bring you the best of the best at our conferences, we would like to introduce you to Mark ‘Squiz’ Squirrel who will be speaking at the 81st RWTA National Conference.
Mark “Squiz” Squirrell OAM has lived a high risk and high impact life.
He was awarded the coveted ‘Green Beret’ whilst serving with the Australian Commando’s and then went on to work across the globe as an International Aid Worker.
Squiz escorted food convoys through the Gaza Strip, negotiated with the Liberation Tigers of Tamel Eelam (Tamil Tigers) and brokered deals with Somali Clansmen to ensure the safe delivery of United Nations food aid.
Squiz will be speaking of how his exposure to conflict and in particular, those that endure poverty, inspired him to climb Mount Everest to raise awareness of global hunger. The cold chain feeds people, delivering confidence in food quality, every day. Squiz, in his own way, did the same.
