Sal Petrocitto OAM to present at the 2023 RWTA Conference and Exhibition

We would like to acknowledge and congratulate Sal Petroccitto of the NHVR who was recently awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the King’s Birthday Honours List last week.

We are also pleased to announce that Sal will be a presenter at our upcoming 81st Conference and Exhibition at QT Gold Coast in August this year.

Sal Petroccitto has been the CEO of the NHVR since May 2014 and his main focuses have been to make the NHVR a customer-centric, risk-based, data-driven modern regulator.

By driving a significant program of reform across Australia’s heavy vehicle industry, Sal has enabled a more streamlined approach to service delivery, education, compliance and enforcement, and a greater degree of consistency in how heavy vehicles are regulated.

Over seven years of the HVSI grant program, he has overseen the provision of $33 million for 132 projects that deliver tangible safety benefits to the industry and the community.

Shane Brennan to present at the 2023 RWTA Conference and Exhibition

We are very pleased to announce that Shane Brennan of the Cold Chain Federation based in the UK will be presenting at our conference in August. 

Shane Brennan is the CEO of this specialist trade association for the temperature-controlled logistics industry in the United Kingdom. 

For over a century, the Federation has brought together the companies and professionals that operate the warehouses and the vehicle fleets that store and move products safely and efficiently supporting, in particular, the food and pharmaceutical industries. 

Shane is an experienced trade association and government relations professional. Since 2018, he has led the strategic renewal of the Federation, adding new members and providing new purpose. At the core of the mission is leading the industry to understand the opportunities and threats of climate change to our industry and its customers.

Leadership Scholarships Available for Women in the Transport and Logistics Sector

Women & Leadership Australia (WLA) supports women at all levels across all sectors and industries. Our career-defining leadership programs bring together a focus on applied learning with the latest in leadership theory and practice. We believe that advancing gender equity, especially in leadership, is central to creating a more fair and inclusive society.  
Through our Industry Partnership Framework, we work with hundreds of Australian associations and professional bodies to increase awareness and action around gender equity. With your support, we can continue to create meaningful opportunities for women leaders across the country.  

Scholarships of $1000-$5000 per person are available for women in the Transport and Logistics Sector

Mark Squirrel to present at the 2023 RWTA Conference and Exhibition

Always keen to bring you the best of the best at our conferences, we would like to introduce you to Mark ‘Squiz’ Squirrel who will be speaking at the 81st RWTA National Conference.  

Squiz is the author of a memoir ‘From Arafat to Everest’ and has received the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for service to the international community through humanitarian aid.

Mark “Squiz” Squirrell OAM has lived a high risk and high impact life.

He was awarded the coveted ‘Green Beret’ whilst serving with the Australian Commando’s and then went on to work across the globe as an International Aid Worker.

Squiz escorted food convoys through the Gaza Strip, negotiated with the Liberation Tigers of Tamel Eelam (Tamil Tigers) and brokered deals with Somali Clansmen to ensure the safe delivery of United Nations food aid.

Squiz will be speaking of how his exposure to conflict and in particular, those that endure poverty, inspired him to climb Mount Everest to raise awareness of global hunger. The cold chain feeds people, delivering confidence in food quality, every day. Squiz, in his own way, did the same.

The Mental Health First Aid course teaches participants to assist someone who is:

• developing a mental health problem

• experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem

• in a mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received.

What will I learn?

By attending this course, you will learn:

• about the signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions

• how to provide initial help

• where to direct a person to get professional help

• how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
